If you choose to do absolutely nothing custom with JIRA, it might be kind of workable - as long as you can live with “To Do”, “In Progress”, and “Done” as your statuses, and absolutely no other feature. Step anywhere outside that lane and you’ll need to hire an entire team to manage it - and their goal will, of course, be supporting what upper management wants.

But my major gripe will probably seem trivial to the uninitiated. There is no option for a basic, simple text-only Markdown editor anywhere. If this tool had even remotely been designed with engineers in mind, that would have been added years ago.
